The Secret Keeper

The Secret Keeper

In the quaint, picturesque town of Frognot County, nestled in the Colorado Rockies, lives a reclusive witch named Carrie Moonshadow.

She lives in an old, charming house right at the center of an oxbow in the Santa Sangre River. Herbs and flowers grow in her wild garden, but her greenhouse is kept chained and locked at all times. Can’t be letting magic roam unfettered, can we?

But wouldn’t you know it, the townspeople secretly come to her for magical solutions to their problems. Someone better go find that key.

They whisper about her in public, but when disaster strikes, Carrie is their last resort. Freelance witchcraft may not pay well, but it’s how she earns her living.

She’s not totally alone in the old house. There’s her loyal gnome assistant, Finn, a master of masonry and metallurgy. And there’s her old friend, Maggie, who has a new beau.

All things considered, it’s a good life with a little magic thrown in to keep it spicy. But that’s all about to change.

A desperate young woman with a mysterious illness accosts Carrie while she’s trying to enjoy a slice of pie, minding her own business. Will the illness draw Carrie into a web of curses and black magic?

Sheriff Caleb Thorne has been busy investigating mysterious fires and problems at the Menkin ranch. But he’s not too busy to notice the fetching witch. Love is its own kind of magic. Will a budding romance be able to withstand what’s coming next?

A sudden darkness is swirling around the quaint house. Here’s another basic lesson all witches have to learn. All magic has a price, and Carrie’s about to go into deep debt.

Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore in the U.S. but have had a weird wanderlust to live in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories! There's more at www.oriceran.com.
