Here we are heading into the last two-ish weeks of 2024. Christmas is next week and the week after that quickly follows up with New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and 2025. I thought the rest of the year sped by, but December has disappeared at breakneck speed.

After last spring, the last thing anyone wants is either of those. Unfortunately, it seems like we’re getting both.

This summer, we’re building our dorm. A specialist in extrahuman contracting is overseeing and Aventurine section is helping. Still, we’ll work all the way up to Welcome Weekend.

As if that wasn’t enough, a friend who helped save our school from sabotage last year is dying. The threat is still out there, the culprit uncaught. Good thing the faculty closed campus. Too bad that’s only for the summer.

There’s no telling what autumn will bring. But how can we prepare when all we’ve done lately is work through grief and grieve through work?
