The Hound Affair

Nobody steals a champion they can’t sell. Somebody did it anyway.

Bougie is a grand champion standard poodle, and anybody who can afford him knows his face on sight. The night his owner tells a dinner full of breeders he’s done breeding him, Bougie vanishes from a shut yard in Crimson Canyon, and the kid who walks every dog on the lane goes down at dawn with a fractured skull and an empty key clip.

Penelope Covens should have heard it.

Now five motorhomes of dog people have buried her senses under diesel and coat spray, and the HOA president is lining her doorway with iron.

They took his keys and left his phone. Whoever came down that path wanted a door. Penelope has a murder board with no murder on it, a three-hundred-year-old with opinions about her hair, and a row of motorhomes that won’t all let a vampire in.

Can she find who put the boy down before her senses come back? Did somebody at that dinner take the dog to reach something worth a boy’s skull?

Every door on the lane is on that ring. Grab The Hound Affair and find out which one it opens.
