Allies and Enemies

Allies and Enemies

A war is looming between humans and the supernatural.

The murders of a wealthy Chicago family could be the match that lights the powder keg. Who killed the Jónassons? Could it be the same people who outed them as werewolves?

Solving the case is the first step in a deadly dance of fragile alliances and enemies for the SCI team.

Kat is the key to stopping an apocalypse, and she has no memory of her witchy side.

The team must find a way to restore her lost magic. With enemies on all sides, they're not sure who they can trust. Restoring her powers means convincing the ancestors to remove the seal on Kat’s powers...and they might not be inclined to help.

Success would mean saving the world, but failure would mean disaster. Can the team persuade the ancestors to help in time?

Even if they do, will it be enough to stop the prophecy from coming true?

The ancestors tell Kat to unite the three supernatural factions: werewolves, vampires, and witches.

She must start by earning the werewolves' trust, a feat not easy to do given centuries of animosity between the wolves and vampires. The oldest werewolf alive, Freyja Jónasson, has taken an interest in Kat.

She says she wants to help, but can she be trusted?

Major Barry Lawrence has a big problem. His aggressive and unyielding boss, Colonel Sheila Baxter believes all supernatural creatures are killers and there's no such thing as a "good monster.”

It's a view shared by Mitch Isaacson, the leader of a vigilante group of human hunters whose mission is to wipe supernaturals from the face of the earth.

Barry despises the hunters' methods but as the military liaison to the SCI team, he's sworn to uphold Baxter's orders.

As tensions between humans and supernaturals continue to rise, Barry finds himself stuck in the middle.

When push comes to shove, which side will he choose? Will he follow orders, even if they're immoral? Or will he do what he knows is right, even if it costs him his career?

About the Author
Lyn South

I live for writing, adventure, learning, chocolate, family, love, and really great musical theater (not necessarily in that order).

I've never been one to color inside the lines of life and that means my characters often don't either. I have a super soft spot for rebels who rise from the ashes of their circumstances. I've been the phoenix a time or two (or ten) in my life...been there, done that, got the tattoo. Seriously. I have a phoenix tattoo.

I love all kinds of stories but all types of Fantasy and Science Fiction are my faves. I love adventure and my biggest ones (so far) have been riding a motorcycle through Namibia and South Africa and hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon (took my knees forEVER to recover from that one. As a life-long learner, I dig doing new things. I love helping other people learn, so my 20+ year career as an instructional designer helped me do that but FINALLY, I get to do what I've always dreamed of doing: Write for a living.

I have The Cutest Mini Goldendoodle on the planet, my buddy Indy (so named because I wanted to legitimately say "We named the DOG Indiana").

You should also know that I love helping other writers tell their stories, too. I'm an editor, book coach, and course creator of The WriteStormers Program, a resource and online community for writers who need to get unstuck in their stories (launching in 2022).
